On Android

Cowboy widgets are available for your Home Screen.

Install the Cowboy app 3.8.0 or later and simply follow this tutorial to add one of our Home Screen widgets.

On iOS

Lock Screen widgets

iOS 16 features a new Lock Screen experience, allowing you to visualise important information without unlocking your phone.

Our first two widgets for your Lock Screen keep track of your battery level, so you will never run out of juice, and the last one informs you about the total distance you traveled this week.

Make sure you upgrade your iPhone to iOS 16 and install the Cowboy iOS app 3.6.0 or later. Then just follow this tutorial to add the Cowboy widgets to your Lock Screen.

Live Activities

Another useful addition to iOS 16.1 is the Live Activities on Lock Screen. Live Activities also come in the form of Dynamic Islands on the iPhone 14 Pro.

Live Activities make it easier to take a quick look at some ride data when you don't mount your phone on your cockpit. Whenever you stop at a red light and wonder how much battery you have left, or what distance you traveled, just take out your phone from your pocket and check out your Lock Screen.

If you want to keep monitoring your ride stats without interruption, keeping the app open as you ride is still the way to go.

How to start a Live Activity?

A Live Activity will automatically be displayed on your Lock Screen when you turn on your bike, and disappear when you turn it off. You'll just need to open the app at least once for the Live Activity to start.

Note that, except on the iPhone 14 Pro, your Lock Screen will not stay on for the entire time of your ride. It will keep on getting shut down automatically after a couple of seconds.

How to turn off Live Activities?

To disable or reenable Live Activities for the Cowboy app, head to your iPhone’s Settings > Cowboy > Live Activities.

I don’t see a Live Activity on my Lock Screen, is it normal?

  • Make sure you’re running iOS 16.1 or later, and installed the Cowboy iOS app 3.7.0 or later.

  • Confirm your bike is on, the app is in the background, and still connected to your bike.

  • You need to open the app at least once for the Live Activity to start. It means that if you keep your app in the background, unlock your bike with Auto Unlock and then check your Lock Screen, no Live Activity will be visible. You’ll need to open your app once to make the Live Activity appear.

Home Screen widgets

Cowboy widgets are available for your Home Screen too.

Make sure your iPhone runs iOS 14 or later, and install the Cowboy iOS app 3.6.0 or later. Then just follow this tutorial to add one of our Home Screen widgets.
