Do the Cowboy bikes have gears?

Our bike is single speed as the assistance level it provides is fully automated. This is a conscious choice we made for the following reasons.

  • Our first motivation was to create the best riding experience. We wanted to design a bike that would be as easy as possible to use. You can simply jump on it and pedal without having to worry about changing gears. We have integrated torque sensors within the pedals, that make the motor feel when you need more assistance. Whenever you will start at a red light or go uphill, our sensors will 'sense' it and the motor will smoothly give you the extra assistance you need.

  • The second reason motivating that choice is the overall design of the bike. Since our bike is fully automated, we got rid of levers and buttons on the handlebar.

Can I change the gear ratio of the bike?

We do not recommend to change the sprockets of your bike to adapt the gearing. Indeed, the current gears are important for the torque sensor to know what amount of assistance you need. Also, by changing the sprockets, you will lose the warranty on your bike, so if there is any issue linked to that change you made, you will not be covered by the warranty.
